An 18-month-old girl died Thursday afternoon in Wrens when she drowned in a neighbor's above-ground pool, Jefferson County Deputy Coroner L. Fay McGahee said.

The girl, who was not identified, was supposed to be under the supervision of a cousin, but wandered off to a nearby home and climbed steps up and over the pool's 3-foot wall, McGahee said.

The girl was missing for about 20 minutes before she was found around 4 p.m. in the pool on the 200 block of East Tower Road in Wrens, McGahee said.
